Regardless, seeing this colossal natural landmark up close is an experience children and adults alike will never forget, offering endless opportunities for photos and beach exploration.
When in Seaside, a visit to the Seaside Aquarium is an absolute must, even if it carries a touch of nostalgic simplicity rather than modern grandeur. What truly makes this place special are its resident harbor seals. These intelligent creatures are not trained to perform tricks; instead, they develop their unique personalities and antics on their own. We watched in amazement as one particular seal, with its endearing big brown “cow eyes,” would playfully surface and slap its fins against its chest, captivating the attention of children eager to toss them fish. Although its beach might not be as expansive or as free of ocean debris as Seaside’s, Manzanita possesses an undeniable charm and a wonderfully serene atmosphere. The town itself is utterly darling, boasting unique boutiques and a truly exceptional Farmer’s Market. If you find yourself in the area, make sure to visit on a Friday evening. While Portland boasts several excellent farmer’s markets, the PSU location is our personal favorite, offering an unparalleled selection of fresh, local produce and artisanal goods. You’ll want to leave with your arms overflowing with the most exquisitely arranged bundles of fresh flowers, a generously sized and incredibly delicious Pine Street Biscuit, and, while you’re there, why not grab one of their breakfast burritos? Seriously, the breakfast burritos here are legendary – packed with fresh ingredients, bursting with flavor, and crazy delicious.
