Every year, the story repeats itself. We embark on our annual summer ritual, and somehow, despite my best intentions, our essential pool supplies vanish into thin air. Goggles? Vanished. Pool rings? A mystery. And sunscreen? How do I consistently forget to restock? So, off we trek to Walmart, a trip that, as usual, yields some unexpected treasures. This time, I returned with those charming plastic cups with lids and straws, two plush towels from the Pioneer Woman collection, and, predictably, no goggles. But more importantly, a serendipitous stroll through the aisles led to a complete overhaul of our dinner plans. My cart was soon overflowing with everything needed to create these sensational Hawaiian Turkey Burger Sliders.

Indeed, I found the truly important stuff! As I walked into the produce section, a vibrant display of fresh, beautiful pineapples immediately caught my eye, making them an irresistible addition to my cart. Then, just around the corner, those irresistible Hawaiian Sweet Rolls beckoned. And as if guided by culinary destiny, a trip down the Asian foods aisle brought me face-to-face with a bottle of Soy Vay® Veri Veri Teriyaki sauce. The label proudly boasted “NO preservatives, NO high fructose corn syrup, NO Artificial flavors, and Kosher,” solidifying my decision. At that moment, the entire vision for a delightful slider dinner snapped into place.

Many people shy away from cooking during the summer months, but I find it to be my favorite time in the kitchen. The abundance of fresh produce and vibrant flavors makes every meal an exciting adventure. With those three key ingredients – pineapples, Hawaiian sweet rolls, and Soy Vay Teriyaki sauce – safely in my basket, a brilliant idea sparked: sliders for dinner! Opting for ground turkey burgers lent a satisfying sense of a healthier meal, even if a generous topping of melted cheese added a touch of indulgent decadence.

The Soy Vay® Teriyaki sauce was an absolute game-changer. Its rich, savory, and perfectly balanced flavor elevated these turkey sliders to an extraordinary level. Each bite was a delightful medley of juicy turkey, sweet pineapple, and the irresistible tang of teriyaki, creating a truly memorable culinary experience. The sauce generously dripped from the buns and down my fingers, a sure sign of pure deliciousness. As a busy mom, I truly appreciate the convenience of such a high-quality, ready-to-use sauce. While I adore homemade, sometimes life calls for smart shortcuts, and this teriyaki sauce delivered without compromising on flavor.

These Hawaiian Turkey Burger Sliders aren’t just about deliciousness; they’re also a fantastic choice for a lighter, yet incredibly satisfying meal. Turkey burgers offer a wonderful alternative to traditional beef, allowing you to enjoy a classic comfort food with a fresh, wholesome twist. The vibrant flavors of grilled pineapple and the savory depth of teriyaki sauce perfectly complement the lean turkey, creating a burger that feels both indulgent and surprisingly fresh.

For those who love to grill, these sliders are a dream come true. The grilling process infuses the turkey patties with a smoky char that enhances their flavor, while the pineapple caramelizes beautifully, releasing its sweet juices. This recipe is designed to be straightforward and accessible, ensuring that even on your busiest days, you can whip up a gourmet-quality meal that delights everyone at the table. The combination of easy preparation and impressive results makes these sliders a standout choice for any mealtime.

Are Turkey Burgers Healthier Than Beef?

When considering health benefits, turkey burgers often come out on top, particularly if you opt for lean ground turkey breast. This lean option provides a significant protein punch with minimal fat. Let’s look at the general comparison:

  • A 4-ounce cooked turkey burger (made from a combination of dark and light meat) typically contains around 193 calories, 11 grams of fat, 3 grams of saturated fat, and 22 grams of protein.
  • In contrast, a 4-ounce ground beef patty usually has about 242 calories, with 29 grams of protein and 8 grams of saturated fat.

While both are excellent sources of protein, turkey burgers can offer a leaner profile, especially when you choose ground turkey breast. This makes them a smart choice for those looking to reduce their saturated fat and calorie intake without sacrificing flavor or satisfaction. The key is to select the right cut of turkey and to prepare it with mindful ingredients.

Can Turkey Burgers Be Pink in the Middle?

It’s a common misconception that all poultry must be white throughout to be safely cooked. In some instances, parts of turkey, especially near the bone or if it’s a darker meat blend, can retain a pinkish hue even after reaching a safe internal temperature. This pinkness can be due to natural pigments or how the meat reacts to cooking.

The only reliable way to ensure your turkey burgers are safely cooked is by using a meat thermometer. Poultry, including ground turkey, should always be cooked to an internal temperature of 165 degrees Fahrenheit (74 degrees Celsius). Insert the thermometer into the thickest part of the patty. Once it reaches this temperature, your turkey burger is safe to eat, regardless of its color. Overcooking to eliminate all pinkness can result in dry, less flavorful burgers, so trust your thermometer!

Servings: 8 sliders

Just wait until that teriyaki sauce is dripping down your fingers as you bite into these Hawaiian Turkey Burgers Sliders!

Ingredients

  • 1.5 Pounds Ground Turkey
  • 1 Jalapeno Pepper, minced
  • 1/3 Cup Green Onions, sliced
  • Salt and Pepper, to taste
  • 1 1/2 Cups Soy Vay® Teriyaki Sauce
  • 1-2 Cups Bell Peppers, sliced (any color works great)
  • 6-8 Slices Cheese (cheddar, Monterey Jack, or Pepperjack)
  • 1 Pineapple, sliced into rings or spears
  • 8 Hawaiian Sweet Rolls, split

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the ground turkey, minced jalapeno, and sliced green onions.
  2. Mix the ingredients gently with a spoon until just combined. Avoid overmixing to keep the patties tender. Form the mixture into 8 slider-sized patties.
  3. Set the formed patties aside on a plate.
  4. Preheat your grill to high heat. Once hot, add the sliced bell peppers directly to the grates.
  5. Roast the peppers on each side for about 30 seconds, or until distinct grill marks appear and they start to soften slightly.
  6. Remove the grilled peppers to a cutting board and allow them to rest for a minute, then slice them into thinner strips if desired.
  7. Using a paper towel dipped in a little oil, carefully rub the grates of the grill to clean and season them. Turn the grill heat down to medium-high.
  8. Lightly sprinkle each side of the turkey patties with salt and pepper. Place them on the grill, then promptly reduce the heat to medium.
  9. Cook the turkey patties for 5 minutes on the first side. If they stick to the grates, they are not ready to flip; allow them a bit more time.
  10. Flip the burgers and cook for an additional 5-6 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165 degrees Fahrenheit (74 degrees Celsius) as measured by a meat thermometer.
  11. While the burgers are cooking, add the pineapple slices to the grill. Grill for about 2 minutes per side, or until beautiful grill marks appear.
  12. Remove the grilled pineapple to a plate.
  13. During the last minute of cooking the turkey burgers, generously spoon about a tablespoon of Soy Vay® Teriyaki sauce onto each patty, then immediately top with a slice of cheese. Close the grill lid briefly to allow the cheese to melt.
  14. Place the split Hawaiian sweet rolls, cut side down, onto the grill for 1-2 minutes, or until lightly toasted and warmed through.
  15. Remove the toasted buns to a serving platter.
  16. Assemble your sliders: Place a cheesy turkey patty on the bottom half of a toasted Hawaiian roll. Top with grilled bell peppers, a slice of grilled pineapple, and another drizzle of that delicious Soy Vay® Teriyaki sauce. Crown with the top bun.
  17. Serve immediately and enjoy these wonderfully flavorful Hawaiian Turkey Burger Sliders!
