This one-pot braised sausage, cabbage, and potatoes dish is a new favorite easy dinner, perfect for St. Patrick’s Day or any time of year. Its hearty ingredients and simple preparation make it a go-to for comforting meals.

Ingredients

  • 4 Sausages, sliced (garlic flavored recommended)
  • 5 Medium Yukon Gold Potatoes, chopped in large chunks
  • 1 Red or Yellow Onion, sliced
  • 1 Head Cabbage, cored and chopped
  • Olive Oil
  • Salt and Pepper, to taste
  • 3 Cloves Garlic, optional

Instructions

  1. Drizzle olive oil into a dutch oven over medium heat. Add sliced sausage and potatoes, stirring occasionally to brown them evenly until they start to develop a nice golden crust.

Ingredients: 4 Sausages, Olive Oil, 5 Medium Yukon Gold Potatoes

  2. Top the browned sausage and potatoes with the sliced onions, then add the chopped cabbage. Season generously with salt and pepper. If using, now is the time to add the minced garlic for an extra layer of flavor.

Ingredients: 1 Red or Yellow Onion, 1 Head Cabbage, Salt and Pepper, 3 Cloves Garlic

  3. Place the lid securely on the dutch oven and reduce the heat to medium-low. Allow the mixture to braise, stirring gently about every 10 minutes, for a total of 30 minutes. The cabbage should become tender and the flavors well-combined. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed, then serve hot.
