Kidde Mariner PWC 5-B:C Marine Fire Extinguisher (Single-Use)
Product description
Designed to tackle common marine fires, this single-use 5-B:C extinguisher is rated for flammable liquids/gases (Class B) and energized electrical equipment (Class C). It uses the standard PASS technique (Pull, Aim, Squeeze, Sweep) and reaches roughly 6–8 feet during a discharge that lasts about 8–12 seconds.
Construction emphasizes corrosion resistance for saltwater environments: a lightweight aluminum cylinder combined with stainless-steel lever and an all-metal valve assembly deliver increased durability. The manufacturer cites roughly twelve times the corrosion resistance compared with industry saltwater test standards. An easy-to-read pressure indicator shows charge status—if the needle sits in the green, the unit is charged and ready.
A UL-listed plastic strap bracket is included for mounting in an accessible location aboard recreational and light commercial boats. The safety pin is designed for quick removal in an emergency. This extinguisher is single-use; dispose of and replace after any discharge or once the unit is over 12 years old. It is US Coast Guard approved for required marine applications. Dry chemical contents are non-toxic and non-corrosive to metal surfaces but may irritate skin on direct contact.
The product carries a 12-year limited manufacturer warranty and is intended for consumer marine and light commercial boat use. Keep in mind that larger recreational craft—typically those over 26 feet—may require additional extinguishers to meet regulations and safety needs.
Pros
- USCG-approved and UL-listed
- Heavy corrosion-resistant metal components
- Compact and easy to mount
Cons
- Single-use only
- Included strap can feel flimsy
- Short discharge duration
VerdictReliable, lightweight fire protection tailored to personal watercraft and small boats. The all-metal valve and stainless lever resist saltwater corrosion, the pressure gauge is simple to read, and the included strap bracket keeps it handy. Note the single-use design and limited discharge window when planning safety gear for larger vessels.

Arrived ready to install
Both units came packaged together and are now fastened on my boat. My previous extinguisher leaked somehow, so I’m glad these are full and operational.

Good size, but watch the mount
Perfect capacity for my 16' john boat and meets local regs. Light and easy to mount; the supplied strap felt weak so I secured it with a low-tension zip tie. Rated appropriately, though I haven’t used it in a real emergency.

Right fit for our little fishing boat
Replaced our old unit with this one. Size is perfect for mounting and it meets requirements for a small craft. Good value for how compact and serviceable it is.

Compact, dependable addition to my safety gear
I keep this on my jet ski and it gives me peace of mind. The slim profile tucks into tight spaces, yet it feels solidly built. Corrosion resistance seems genuine and the pressure gauge is easy to check. Overall a reassuring safety item for small watercraft.
