852-in-1 NES Multi-Game Cartridge (Forever Duo)
Product description
What’s included
This cartridge bundles 852 NES titles split into two selectable lists (commonly referenced as 405 + 447). Game selection is handled via an on-cart menu that lets you switch between the two collections using the SELECT button. The cart is marketed as the Forever Duo set and offers the FOREVER 1 (405 IN 1) and FOREVER 2 (477 IN 1) menu options.
Hardware and storage
All game ROMs are stored on a 1024Mbit flash memory chip built into a standard, cartridge-style shell compatible with an NES slot form factor. The unit supports a battery-backed save feature so games that originally used in-game battery saves will preserve progress, but only one game's save file can be retained on the cartridge at any time—there are no emulator-style save states.
Compatibility and region handling
Titles and menus are presented entirely in English. The cart supports both NTSC and PAL formats; it ships with instructions for switching regions. PAL games will only run on European PAL systems, while the NTSC library plays on North American and other NTSC consoles. The cartridge is compatible with original NES consoles and many hardware clones and retro systems such as Retron HD, Retron 1/2/3, Retro Bit hardware, and similar clone units (for example Gamerz Tek style systems). It is not compatible with systems that run Android-based emulation like Retron 5 or Retro Freak.
Usage tips and reliability
Games are listed alphabetically with no duplicates across the menus, and highlighted entries indicate titles that may be less compatible with certain hardware. Each cartridge undergoes at least three compatibility tests across different systems before shipment. Saving works exactly as the original games intended: if you want to keep a save, continue playing that same title; switching to another game that uses battery saves will overwrite the existing cartridge save.
Caveats
Some ROM hacks and restoration patches are not included; availability varies. A handful of games may not function on every clone or retro console despite extensive testing. The single-save restriction is the primary functional limitation compared with modern multi-save or save-state solutions.
Pros
- Huge English-language library of 852 games
- Clear dual menus and alphabetical organization
- Battery-backed saving for original in-game saves
Cons
- Only one game’s save file retained at a time
- Not compatible with Android-based systems like Retron 5/Retro Freak
- Some highlighted titles may fail on certain clone hardware
VerdictThis Forever Duo multicart delivers an enormous, alphabetized collection of NES games on a 1024Mbit flash chip with an easy-to-navigate dual menu and battery-backed save for a single game's progress. It runs on original NES hardware and many quality clones, and includes PAL/NTSC switching instructions. Expect occasional incompatibilities with some consoles and highlighted entries that may not work

Check cartridge fit for RetroN 2 HD
This cartridge wouldn’t seat in my Hyperkin RetroN 2 HD, though it fit perfectly in a real NES.

Brings back the classics
Arrived today and every title I tried ran on my RetroN HD. It’s not the same as owning dozens of cartridges, but it recreates that collection feel.

Huge library, few omissions
No duplicates that I noticed. SELECT flips between the two menus. Missing SMB2 and SMB3 for me, and I’d have liked some patched ROMs, but it works fine on my Retro Trio.

Almost everything works
Found many unfamiliar titles, all of which I tried played fine. Missing Super Mario 2 though.

Convenient and well made
Easy to use with a massive selection. Only one battery save at a time, so finish long RPGs before swapping games. Works well paired with arcade-style controllers.

Plays great on original hardware
Tried about 20 games on original NES—audio and gameplay are solid. Menu navigation is quick and the larger jumps help. Haven’t fully tested saves yet, but the cart fills gaps while I hunt original carts.
