Carex Seat Assist Plus — Memory Foam Chair & Sofa Lifter
Product description
This kit includes an inflatable seat lifter with integrated LeveLift patent technology, a removable memory foam topper and a washable waterproof cover, plus a basic user guide. The unit is built to slip into most armchairs, sofas and couches and to be carried in a vehicle for travel use.
The internal lift mechanism uses an inflatable bladder that raises the seat surface to provide about 70% of lift assistance for users weighing up to 350 pounds. The memory foam layer sits on top for cushioning; the exterior cover is waterproof and wipes clean easily. No electrical power is required to operate the device.
Dimensions are intended to fit the majority of household chairs and sofas; the construction combines foam comfort with a semi-rigid seat pan to transfer the lifting motion. The product is intended for seated surfaces such as domestic armchairs, couches and many public seating locations, and is described as lightweight and portable for taking to appointments or vacations.
Care instructions are simple: the outer cover unzips or wipes clean and the foam pad can be spot-cleaned as needed. The lifting mechanism should be adjusted to match the user’s weight and posture so the assist is gentle and stable. Quick inflation and deflation cycles allow users to transition between a pre-seated raised position and the normal sitting position.
The manufacturer highlights the patented LeveLift system for producing a straight upward lift rather than a forward shove, and positions the device as an affordable alternative to full power lift chairs. Note: the product is not designed for use on a wheelchair seat.
Pros
- Provides up to ~70% lift assistance for users up to 350 lb
- Memory foam top with removable, wipeable cover
- Portable and operates without electricity
Cons
- May feel tall in the pre-seated position for some users
- Fit and comfort depend on chair shape; not universal
- Some users report mechanical or stability issues
VerdictThe Seat Assist Plus delivers meaningful upward assistance without needing electricity, making it a practical option for people who struggle to stand independently. The memory foam cushion and wipeable cover add comfort and convenience, and its portability is useful for travel and visits. However, fit and comfort vary by user and chair type: some find the pre-inflated profile awkward or the rigid

Handy for travel, great on vacation
Was a real help while we were away from home and without a lift chair. After finding the right setting he could stand without my help and sit watching TV later into the evening. Packs easily for car travel and would be convenient for flights.

Practical and my mother uses it daily
Bought it for my mom and I admit I was unsure at first. It took a bit to learn how the adjustment bar locks and moves. I appreciate that it runs without power. Most importantly, it gives her more independence and she likes it.

Solid upward assist
Performs well and gives a firm upward push to help you stand.

Boosts you up but isn’t comfortable
The device raised me before I was fully seated and then stayed high for a while, making it awkward to get comfortable. The seat pan can wobble side-to-side and the overall feel was quite uncomfortable, though it did help me to stand.

A bit large for kitchen chairs but very useful
I have a muscle condition and rising is painful; this device is easy to use and relieves the stress of sitting in restaurants and theaters. It can be a little big for some dining chairs, but overall it’s very helpful.

Worth the cost and includes local instructions
This assist has helped me a lot. All models are similar, but this one included instructions in my language, which was useful. I keep one at home and one for outings.

Small but effective for getting to my feet
Slightly smaller than my previous unit but does the job. The cushion is comfortable and it fits in doctor’s office seats to help me rise using my walker. Important tip: don’t lean forward when it lifts — aim to rise straight up. When adjusted properly it assists about 70% of your weight.

Unusable for my mom and non-returnable
Purchased to help my mom with Parkinson’s but she found it intolerable to sit on. Each adjustment sometimes made it inflate and nearly throw her forward. We were upset to discover it couldn’t be returned and are stuck with it.

Failed while I was stuck in the chair
I purchased this for recovery after knee surgery and it worked well initially, lifting me up easily. After a few weeks it broke and wouldn’t reopen — I was alone and had to wait for help. I’m only 158 lb, so it wasn’t overloaded.

Well made but sitting can be tricky
Construction feels sturdy, yet my husband with poor balance couldn’t sit on it safely. I almost fell when testing it myself. It helps to stand but sitting may require holding onto something.

Excellent, used by my grandmother
Functional and precise; we bought it for my grandmother who uses it a lot. It arrived intact though without extra packaging, and it works well for her needs.

Really helps sore knees
It helps me stand without straining my painful knees. Take time to try different settings to find the most comfortable position. I bought it on sale and am pleased with it.
