Vortex Diamondback HD 16-48x65 Angled Spotting Scope
Product description
The Diamondback HD angled spotting scope is a 16–48x magnification model with a 65 mm objective, configured in an angled body that favors comfortable eyepiece positioning for extended glassing sessions. The package typically includes the angled scope itself, twist-up eyecup, objective and eyepiece caps, a retractable sunshade, a soft protective case and basic documentation for setup and care.
Optically it uses HD glass elements and multiple anti-reflective coatings on every air-to-glass surface to maximize light transmission, deliver edge-to-edge sharpness, and reduce chromatic aberration for faithful color rendition. ArmorTek coating is applied to the exterior lens surfaces to resist oil, scratches, and dirt, preserving clarity in the field.
A built-in helical focus wheel gives fast, precise adjustments and the adjustable eyecup twists up and down for comfortable use with or without glasses. The integral sunshade helps reduce glare and keeps moisture off the objective in rain or snow.
The body is O-ring sealed and argon-purged for waterproof and fogproof reliability. Rubber armor improves grip and adds impact resistance for hard use; the scope’s compact profile and roughly 1.4 kg weight make it practical to carry on hikes or bike outings.
Mounting options are broad: it accepts standard 1/4-20 tripod threads and is Arca-Swiss compatible for direct mounting on many heads without extra plates; it also works with vehicle window mounts when needed. That versatility makes it suitable for birding, hunting, nature observation, and general long-range spotting.
A transferable, unlimited VIP warranty covers repair or replacement for defects or damage that affects performance. The warranty does not cover loss, theft, intentional damage, or purely cosmetic wear that does not impair function.

VerdictThe Diamondback HD angled spotter delivers impressive resolution and color fidelity in challenging light while remaining rugged and tripod-friendly. Great for fieldwork
Ideal for work — clients are always happy with the magnification. I was able to spot a snake in the top of a tree about six meters away.

Excellent HD optic in this size and value range. Compact build and about 1.4 kg weight make it convenient for bike birding; optical and build quality are outstanding.

Good, not a huge leap
Nice scope. The brand is reputable, but I didn't notice a large gain in brightness or clarity over the more affordable model to justify the extra expense.

Solid optics
Has served me well. Clear images and a generous field of view. Focuses smoothly and pairs nicely with a tripod for steady observation.

Works well; personal choice
Clear glass, a touch soft at max zoom (could be me). I switched to the straight version but the angled unit performed fine—choose the orientation you prefer.

Impressive detail at distance
Unboxed and tested right away — read a screw head at 75 yards and the white top of a T-post at about 350 yards. Excited to use it for deer spotting; highly recommend.
