75mm Borosilicate Glass Petri Dishes with Lids — 5-Pack
Product description
What you receive: a set of five borosilicate glass Petri dishes, each including a bottom and a matching lid. The material is high-strength borosilicate glass for improved light transmission and longevity. A dropper is not included with this pack.
Exact measurements: bottom dish outer diameter 75 mm and external height 18 mm; lid outer diameter 82 mm and height 17 mm. Wall thickness for both pieces is approximately 2 mm. These dimensions reflect external measurements and the lid sits noticeably larger than the base.
Design and handling: the lid is deliberately made slightly bigger than the bottom to keep the lid flat and to make it easier to place and remove. That fit produces a clearance between base and cover; this is by design and does not impair basic use, though it may require additional wrapping or sealing for lengthy sterile incubations.
Performance and finish: the glass tolerates temperatures up to about 401 °C and has a low coefficient of thermal expansion. It is not suitable for freezing or cryogenic use. The material shows strong resistance to acids and alkalis and offers good chemical stability. The workmanship yields smooth, even rims and flat bottoms suitable for culturing and lab experiments.
Pros
- Thick, clear borosilicate glass built for reuse
- High heat and chemical resistance for sterilization
- Smooth, even rims and flat bottoms
Cons
- Lids are larger than bases, creating a noticeable gap
- Not safe for freezing or very low-temperature use
- Smaller 75mm size may be limiting for some applications
VerdictThese 75mm borosilicate Petri dishes offer solid, reusable labware with clear, thick glass and smooth finishes. They withstand high temperatures and corrosive media, making them a good alternative to disposable plastic plates. However, the lids are intentionally larger than the bases to preserve flatness and ease handling, which produces a noticeable gap that can complicate sterile sealing unless

Perfectas
Muy buenas, cumplen con lo descrito y llegaron en buen estado.

Inconsistent sizing, poor lid fit
If you use Petri dishes a lot, be aware these can vary in size and the lids have excessive play. The loose fit was disappointing; I recommend investing in a more consistent brand if tight sealing is critical.

Holds up well to repeated pressure-cooker cycles
After about ten cycles through the pressure cooker these dishes remain unchanged. The glass is thicker than many others I've tried, and the smaller size seems tougher. Good longevity for routine sterilizations.

VineLadyK.K. 5/5
Clear, robust glass; lids slightly loose
Sturdy, crystal-clear dishes that arrived without chips. Each was individually boxed and packed well, with a service card included. The lids are a bit looser than others I've used but acceptable for my purposes.

Measured dimensions — expect an 8mm lid oversize
These match the listed 75mm × 18mm bottoms and ~2mm wall thickness. The lids are 82mm, so there’s an effective 4mm diameter clearance around the base, making taping or sealing feel less snug than expected.

Midax 5/5
Well-packed borosilicate plates, smaller than usual
Arrived individually wrapped and protected. The 75mm size is smaller than the 90mm I'm used to but suitable for many cloning tasks. Glass is thick and very clear. Lids overhang the bases; 1" parafilm covered the gap for me but required care. These are not pre-sterilized like disposable plastic plates.

Steebo 5/5
Reusable glass plates for iterative culture work
I switched from disposable plastic to these glass dishes to reuse plates during repeated transfers. Packaging was excellent and each dish arrived intact. The lids are much larger than the bottoms, which made achieving a sterile seal harder than I expected—user error on my part for not checking dimensions first.
