Product description

This punch-needle gripper frame measures 40 × 40 cm (15.7 × 15.7 inches) and is built to hold larger pieces of backing fabric for rug hooking and needle punch work.

The frame is fitted with a 380PPI gripper strip whose bent teeth are designed to bite into and secure the backing cloth. Each corner is reinforced with triangular iron brackets to help keep the frame aligned and the gripping reliable.

A soft flannel cover is included to slip over the assembled frame. The cover protects hands from the sharp gripper teeth and helps keep the frame clean while it’s not in use. The cover is removable for washing.

Assembly hardware is supplied: screws, a small screwdriver/driver bit, and a printed manual. The gripper strip should be installed with the pointed side facing outward from the frame center so the teeth engage the fabric properly.

Intended use is stretching and holding backing fabric taut during punch-needle or rug-hooking work. When the project is finished the fabric can be released from the frame for finishing and trimming.

    Sturdy frame, needed a wash

    Put together easily and feels solid. The flannel cover had a strong chemical smell, I washed it twice to remove it. I ended up buying two sizes and am pleased with the performance.

    Good value for a larger frame

    I considered building one but this was cheaper for the size I wanted. Not as refined as premium brands and the wood isn’t top grade, but assembly was quick and it does the job.

    My first gripper frame and it holds fabric securely. Assembly instructions were sparse but manageable after a few tries. The pink shade differs from the photo, but I’d still recommend it.

    Excellent grip, add padding

    Grips fabric very well, but the gripper strips are extremely sharp. Consider extra padding—the cover doesn’t fully protect the corners.
