Stainless Steel Queen Bee Clips with Transparent Cage and Marking Bottle Kit
Product description
What you get: The package contains two queen-handling clips made from stainless steel and a single transparent queen cage that measures approximately 2 x 2.7 inches. The clamp-style clips and the clear cage are intended to be used together when locating, isolating, or moving the queen.
Materials and build: The clips are formed from stainless steel for resistance to rust and corrosion and to provide a longer working life than typical plastic catchers. The cage is a clear plastic tube-style holder so the queen can be monitored visually while contained.
How it helps: The clips are designed to secure the queen cage in place so the operator can control the queen without using bare fingers, reducing stress and contact. This makes routine hive inspections, creating nucs or splits, and moving queens between frames or boxes more manageable and quicker.
Design details: The transparent cage includes a ventilation slot to maintain airflow and to allow worker bees limited access. The metal clips have a spring action to hold the cage or queen gently; however, fit and finish should be checked to ensure smooth operation and to avoid any sharp spots.
Usage notes: Operators typically use one clip to trap or hold the queen while using the cage to transport her. The clear chamber lets you confirm the queen’s identity, and the ventilation slot keeps her from being deprived of air during short-term containment. Handle with care and inspect each tool before first use.

- May require two-handed operation for safe queen capture
VerdictThis kit supplies two metal queen clips and a clear plastic queen cage sized at 2 x 2.7 inches to help you capture, restrain, and move a queen during hive work. The stainless clips resist corrosion and should outlast plastic models, while the cage offers visibility and ventilation for short-term holding. In practice the tools speed up inspections and make splits and transfers less stressful when u

Rough finish and sloppy plunger fit
These devices felt underfinished — the metal near the opening was a bit sharp and could injure a queen if not smoothed. The plunger assembly in the marking bottle-style catcher was loose and the inner sponge/barrel sat too loosely, so it can shift unexpectedly. I prefer metal clips for durability, but this batch had tolerant clearances that make accidental crushing a real risk. I rated it low because filing the edges and tightening the plunger might fix the issues, but buying something that needs repairs out of the box is disappointing.

Useful set for routine queen work
As a beekeeper since 2020 I find the stainless clips handy when I need to keep tabs on the queen during inspections. The metal construction feels solid and the clips operate with one hand if you’re careful. The marking-style bottle included is well made compared with other makes I’ve used; it’s straightforward to use, though capturing the queen safely still often requires two hands. In my experience the queen reliably enters the clear chamber when handled properly.
