Pyramid 6A Linear Bench Power Supply — 13.8V AC-to-DC Converter
Product description
Overview: This Pyramid compact bench power supply converts 115V AC mains to a regulated 13.8V DC output using a linear design. The unit is intended for tabletop use and supplies a steady 6.0 amps continuous with an 8.0 amp surge capacity for short peaks.
What’s included and connections: The supply is a plug-in module with a built-in power cord and an easy-access on/off rocker switch. Output connections are handled via hardwired screw-type terminals (red positive, black negative) for straightforward hookup to radios, amplifiers, test rigs, or custom cables. Many users add inline fuses on their custom leads for added protection.
Protection and construction: The cabinet incorporates a heatsink and a rugged metal housing to dissipate heat and provide mechanical stability. Electronic protection features include short-circuit and overload response with an auto-resetting fuse mechanism to protect both the supply and attached equipment during faults or prolonged use.
Specifications and dimensions: Rated output is 13.8V DC at 6.0 A continuous, with an 8.0 A surge capability. Input is 115V AC, 60Hz, up to roughly 100 watts. The unit measures approximately 7.5" x 4.9" x 3.0" and contains a beefy internal transformer and linear regulation components common to low-noise power supplies.
Typical use: Ideal for powering CB and HAM transceivers, scanners, small audio amplifiers and preamps, LED or accessory lighting, and general bench testing of 12V devices that require constant-voltage DC. Its linear regulation keeps RF and audio noise to a minimum compared with many switching supplies.
Pros
- Low-noise linear output ideal for RF and audio
- Solid build with heatsink and protection circuitry
- Simple screw terminals and plug-in operation
Cons
- Fixed 13.8V output — no adjustable voltage
- Gets warm under load; may need added cooling
- No built-in digital meter for output monitoring
VerdictA compact, no-frills linear benchtop supply that provides clean, stable 13.8V DC power and built-in safety features. It’s well suited for ham/CБ/GMRS radios, small audio rigs, and hobbyist bench work where low-noise, constant-voltage output matters.

Codey 5/5
Exactly right for my CB setup
Provides the correct output for my CB radio and powers it reliably. Simple and effective.

Runs dual radios reliably
I power a GMRS and a CB at the same time without problems. My unit reads about 12.4V under load instead of 13.8V, but both radios operate normally.

No interference — perfect for my radio room
I replaced noisy switching adapters with this linear unit to eliminate RFI in my shack. It runs multiple 12V accessories at once and stays quiet. I made fused leads for each device. The manual even includes a schematic and parts IDs for easy servicing.

Quiet and musical for light audio use
I use this with two small tripath amps and a preamp; the supply is sonically clean and improves clarity versus a bulkier linear unit I tried. Not for very high current rigs, but excellent for modest audio setups.

Stable voltage for home amp testing
Powers my car amp at home and holds voltage steady under load. It runs warm, so I added a quiet fan and a digital voltmeter to monitor output — the voltage stayed around 13.84–13.86V while driving the amp.
