RooTrimmer 10-Pack 10x20 Heavy-Duty Seed Starting Trays (No Drain Holes)
Product description
What’s included: A pack of ten 10x20 (standard 1020) seed starting trays designed without drainage holes.
Dimensions and construction: The tray bottom measures roughly 10" x 20", the top around 11.2" x 21.6", and the depth is approximately 2.52" — ample room for nursery pots, plug flats and a good volume of potting mix. Molded from high-quality polystyrene (PS), the walls are reinforced to about 1.8 mm thickness to resist twisting and bending under load.
Design and performance: These are purpose-built no-drain flats for microgreens and seed starting where moisture retention is desired. The bottom features a deeper concave/convex rib pattern that increases water storage beneath pots and improves load-bearing strength so the tray is less likely to sag or deform.
Temperature and use cases: The material tolerates cool greenhouse conditions and can be used on heating mats for germination. Standard 10x20 cell inserts and plug flats drop in neatly. Common uses include microgreens, seed germination, nursery pots, seedling transplanting, soil replacement, bulk transfers and general propagation tasks.
Support: If any trays arrive damaged or you encounter quality issues, contact customer support for replacement or assistance. The manufacturer offers help to ensure satisfactory use and compatibility with other seed-starting accessories.
Pros
- Thick 1.8 mm PS construction for rigidity
- No-drain design holds moisture for microgreens and bottom-watering
- Standard 10x20 size fits common inserts and plug flats
Cons
- May become brittle with extended sun/UV exposure
- Heavier when fully loaded — needs support when moving
- Corners or edges can dent in rough shipping
VerdictThese 10x20 trays are a step up from flimsy disposable flats: thick PS construction, reinforced bottoms and a no-drain design that keeps moisture for microgreens and bottom-watering. They’re heavier when filled and can be affected by prolonged sun exposure, so handle loaded trays carefully, but for durable reusable propagation they’re a solid choice.

Durable and reliable
Thick and resilient — this is my second pack. No cracks so far and they’ve handled many different plants well.

Rigid and leak-free
Many 'heavy duty' flats are brittle, but these actually have substance. I’m into my second season under grow lights and standard 10x20 inserts fit perfectly with no awkward overhang. I can lift a lightly loaded tray one-handed without it folding, though I use two hands when it’s packed with wet mix and seedlings. Bottom-watering has left me with zero hairline cracks or slow leaks after months. They cost more than disposables but save cleanup and replacements.

Finally quality
At last — a solid tray. Sturdy build and no wobble. I’d recommend them.

Truly heavy duty
When filled with seed cells these don’t bend. You can lift one with one hand if careful, but two hands are safer. They live up to the heavy-duty claim; I’d purchase again.

Mostly sturdy
Good, quality trays — not the thin, fragile plastic that you get with disposable pellets.

Built to last
Solid trays that should last for years in greenhouse use.

Survived rough handling
Tougher than cheap big-box trays. One arrived with dented corners but was still usable — a bit pricier but worth the durability.

Thicker than expected
More robust than I imagined. Reusable and good quality — I’ll buy them again.

Perfect fit and sturdy
Ideal size for my plug press. Strong plastic that doesn’t bend. Time will tell on longevity.

Better than most, with caveats
Great for early seedling stages, but as plants grew and trays carried more weight several cracked through the center, dumping seedlings. They’re still better than many trays I’ve tried, but once plants get larger I support them from beneath or transport them on a rigid lid. Most cracking seemed to happen after outdoor exposure, so UV may play a role. I ordered two sets and they are definitely sturdier than typical 10x20 flats, but handle loaded trays carefully.
