Safety 1st Grow and Go 3-in-1 Convertible Car Seat — Black Phantom
Product description
This 3-in-1 convertible car seat is built to carry a child from 5 to 100 lb, switching from rear-facing to forward-facing and then to a high-back booster. Included in the package are the main seat shell, removable infant support pillows, two snap-in cup holders, a detachable machine-washable seat pad, and an instruction manual.
Construction uses a rigid plastic shell with energy-absorbing foam and a soft, removable fabric cover that can be washed in a machine and dried on low. The harness is integrated into an adjustable headrest so the straps and head support move together using the QuickFit system, eliminating the need to rethread as the child grows. The seat offers a three-position recline and harness holders to keep straps out of the way while loading or unloading a child.
Installation can be completed using the vehicle’s seat belt or the lower LATCH anchors with a top tether for forward-facing use. The seat pad unclips without removing the harness, and the two cup holders are dishwasher-safe for quick cleanup. Side-impact engineering is built into the shell and padding, and the seat is tested to meet federal safety requirements.
Pros
- QuickFit headrest and harness move together for easy adjustments
- Machine-washable, removable pad and dishwasher-safe cup holders
- Covers a wide weight range (5–100 lb) across three modes
Cons
- Can be difficult to tighten or install in some vehicles
- May have slight movement if not perfectly secured
- Does not swivel toward the caregiver for loading
VerdictA versatile, full‑range convertible seat with user-friendly harness adjustments, washable fabrics, and federally compliant side-impact protection. Good long-term fit for growing children, though installation and tightening can be awkward in some vehicles.

Solid quality and very comfortable
Bought for my 8-month-old and have been using it from the backseat. The seat looks and feels well made — nothing about it suggests poor construction. My son is cozy and content in it.

Repeat buyer — still satisfied
This is our second Safety 1st seat and it hasn’t disappointed. The cover comes off easily for washing and the seat does exactly what it should. Multiple color choices are a nice touch.

Fits my toddler perfectly
My one-year-old is long and fits this seat comfortably. Easy to move between cars and it fits both small and large vehicles. I can carry and install it while pregnant, so it’s manageable and feels durable enough for years.

Great value and comfy for my toddler
Cushioning is plush and my kid settles without fuss. The seat stays fairly compact and feels secure when installed. It does wiggle a little if you rock it, and I wish it could rotate toward me as my child gets more opinionated about being buckled in.

A solid option: comfortable, easy to install, and provides good protection. My child has used it for over a year and remains happy in it. Cleaning is simple.

A very good purchase
Excellent product for safely and comfortably transporting an infant. Adapts as the child grows, easy to install, and the soft cover comes off quickly for washing. The recline control could be more user-friendly, but harness buckles are accessible and secure.

Reliable safety features and longevity
This Harvest Moon model gives me peace of mind with side-impact protection and other safety engineering that meet federal standards. It transitions smoothly between rear-facing, forward-facing, and booster modes, making it a long-term option for growing children.

Switched seats and much happier now
After a bad experience with a different brand, this seat has been reliable for over a year. My child rarely gets car sick in it and enjoys the cup holders. Downsides: getting a tight install and pulling the straps require a lot of force unless two people handle it.

Good performance but a bit noisy
Seat functions well, but I noticed some rattling sounds during certain maneuvers.

Features we wanted and the baby approves
Plush enough and offers reclining positions, a five-point harness, and long rear-facing capability before converting to booster. Our young infant can see out the window comfortably, and overall we’re pleased with the purchase.

Met my checklist of must-haves
We needed a convertible seat that goes all the way to a high-back booster, has washable fabric, accessible strap management, cup holders, and a neutral color. This model ticks those boxes and solved our problem of constantly swapping heavy infant carriers.
