XL Stainless-Steel Sifting Rabbit Litter Pan
Product description
This listing is for an extra-large sifting litter pan designed for rabbits. The set includes the main stainless-steel pan, a perforated stainless grate that sits above a lower catch tray, and a pair of detachable metal hooks to fasten the unit to a cage wall for added stability.
Every component is fabricated from stainless steel with a smooth finish to resist staining and odor retention. The grated top lets solid waste and liquid pass through to the bottom tier so the rabbit stands on a cleaner surface while the lower tray contains mess for easier removal.
The pan’s sides are raised to a height of 3.55 inches to reduce urine escaping the box and keep bedding or litter contained. The XL footprint gives rabbits extra room to move and helps with training larger or growing animals.
To clean, lift out the grate and rinse the stainless surfaces with water; the metal construction allows quick restoration without the staining or lingering smells typical of plastic pans. The detachable hooks clip onto cage bars to keep the unit from shifting during use.
Pros
- Durable, stain-resistant stainless steel construction
- Sifting grate keeps the top level cleaner and reduces odors
- Detachable hooks secure the pan to a cage
Cons
- Grate openings can be wide, letting hay fall through
- Gap between grate and sidewall on some units
- Rubber lip may conceal a sharp edge if not checked
VerdictThis extra-large stainless-steel sifting pan offers a more sanitary alternative to plastic boxes: solid construction, a smooth metal surface that rinses clean, and a perforated top that routes droppings and urine to a catch tray below. It suits owners who want less odor retention and simpler maintenance, though some users note wide grate openings, gaps at the sidewall, and a protective rubber lip

High sides reduce mess, check the lip
I found a sharp edge hidden beneath the rubber strip on the rim and removed and smoothed it before letting my bunny use it. Once adjusted, I flipped it so the gap faces the pen wall and blocked it with a hay rack. It doesn’t trap odors like plastic, though mineral buildup from urine can form over time.

Worth upgrading from plastic
My rabbit chewed the plastic threshold of her old entrance, but this metal unit holds up. The clips keep it stable, the high sides stop spraying, the metal grate is simpler to clean, and emptying is quick. It’s pricier than plastic but more durable and user-friendly.

Nice pan, watch the sizing
The unit itself is very well made. My only issue was finding one big enough for my very large rabbits. Ultimately I passed it on to a relative with a smaller pet who loves it.

Great for training a small lop
Cleaning is straightforward and the quality seems high. It was perfect while my mini lop was learning litter habits. If your rabbit is still growing consider sizing up.

No more stains or smells
Switching from plastic was a game-changer — this stainless unit wipes clean with no lingering stains or odors. I wish I had chosen metal earlier.

Solid construction, easy upkeep
The pan feels heavy-duty and roomy enough for my rabbit. The metal wipes clean much faster than plastic and doesn’t trap smells. It stays put and has become my go-to for daily use — I’m pleased with how it performs.

Plenty of space and tidy
So far it’s worked wonderfully and looks neat in the pen. I bought the extra-large so my bunny has full freedom inside it. The sides are high enough to prevent spills and cleaning is quick. I was concerned about the grate underfoot, but he darts in and out without issue.

Functional but has flaws
Works okay, but the grate slats are wide so a lot of hay drops through. I worried about little feet slipping into the openings. I ordered a different model with a finer grid and lift handles; this one also has a noticeable gap between the grate and the pan wall.
