CARVALAX 45° Eccentric Flaring Tool Kit — Imperial Clamp 3/16"–3/4"
Product description
Seven imperial tube holes: The kit includes a single solid flaring bar machined with seven precise openings for common tube outer diameters — 3/16", 1/4", 5/16", 3/8", 1/2", 5/8" and 3/4". Each bore is finished to guide the tube accurately and produce consistent flare geometry across the supported sizes.
Eccentric 45° flaring action: This tool uses an eccentric cone mechanism to form 45° flares in soft-metal tubing such as copper, brass and aluminum. The cone rolls into the tube end incrementally rather than driving straight in, which helps maintain wall thickness and yields smooth, uniform flares that seal against standard flare fittings in pressurized lines.
Durable construction: The body of the flaring tool is forged from ductile iron for strength and resistance to deformation. The eccentric flaring cone is made from hardened steel to withstand repeated use. A black-oxide style finish helps resist rust and moisture, extending service life in workshop and field environments.
Comfort and control: The tool is fitted with an ergonomic handle to allow controlled rotation with reduced effort and operator fatigue. A single clamp screw secures the tubing during the forming process for quick set-up and removal. The cone’s rolling action encourages even metal flow and consistent flare contours without cracking or excessive thinning.
Applications and kit contents: Designed for HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing and industrial maintenance tasks, this kit is suitable for creating reproducible, gas-tight connections in refrigerant and hydraulic lines. The package comes in a sturdy blow-molded carrying case that houses the flaring bar, the eccentric cone assembly and the clamp components for organized transport and storage.
Pros
- Covers seven common imperial tube sizes
- Forged body with hardened steel cone
- Eccentric cone forms uniform 45° flares
Cons
- Some users must learn the eccentric technique
- May need lubrication for smooth operation
- Not intended for tubing harder than soft metals
VerdictA robust, multi-size flaring kit that produces reliable 45° eccentric flares in copper, brass and aluminum. The solid flaring bar covers seven common imperial tube diameters and the hardened cone with rolling action forms even, leak-ready flares without thinning the tube wall. Built with a forged body and corrosion-resistant finish, this tool is aimed at technicians who need a durable, portable so

Perfect 45° flares
Made flawless 45° flares. It turned so easily I double-checked it, but the results were spot on.

Works very well and explains the cone action
Good value and makes clean flares. The cone appears off-center at first, but that’s intentional: it works progressively around the tube to form the flare rather than pushing straight in like older designs.

Excellent for mini-split lines
Handled a mini-split line set nicely. Use lubricant on the cone. There’s a feel for when it’s done — the eccentric action is by design.

Very pleased
Performs reliably. I like the eccentric cone design.

Not suitable for my mini-split install
Couldn’t tighten properly on the 1/4" line I had to flare, so it was unusable for that application. Disappointing for that specific job.
