Marine
Emergency Marine Throwable Foam Cushion — Boat Flotation Seat
Product description
This product is a throw-style flotation cushion intended for marine safety and seating. Each purchase includes a single throwable foam cushion with a fitted polyester cover and an attached grab strap for quick deployment. The cushion qualifies as a U.S. Coast Guard approved Type IV throwable flotation device for boats.
Construction uses a 200D Polyester Oxford outer shell with polypropylene grab-strap webbing and an internal filling of expanded polyethylene (EPE) foam. The foam is produced in 7 mm layers, stacked into ten layers for a combined thickness of roughly 70 mm (about 2.75 inches), delivering buoyancy while remaining reasonably compact for seating. The cover and straps are designed to withstand saltwater exposure and regular marine use.
Dimensions are roughly 16 x 16 x 2.75 inches, sized to serve as both a throwable life preserver and an extra seat pad on many small boats. It’s suitable for aluminum boats, kayaks, fishing boats, pontoons, canoes and similar craft. It’s also useful at docks, water camps, pools and as a spare emergency item for coastal households or anglers.
The cushion is lightweight but substantial, with a thick foam core and durable outer fabric that stands up to rough conditions. The bright color improves visibility in the water. Important safety reminder: this product is meant to be thrown to a person in distress and used as an auxiliary flotation/seat — it is not designed to be worn and does not replace Types I, II or III wearable personal flotation devices.
Pros
- U.S. Coast Guard Type IV approval
- Durable 200D polyester shell with layered EPE foam
- Bright, easy-to-spot color and sturdy grab strap
Cons
- Not a wearable life jacket
- Firm seat surface may feel stiff to some
- Cover and straps may show wear over long-term exposure
VerdictA reliable Type IV throwable cushion that offers solid buoyancy and a sturdy seat surface. It’s built to endure marine conditions and is easy to toss to someone in the water, but it is only a supplemental throwable device and must not replace a wearable life jacket.

Highly recommended for extra buoyancy
Excellent addition to our safety gear. Very visible and provided extra float in open water. Also comfortable enough to sit on during outings.

Bright and thicker than expected
Handy flotation pad. The red is easy to spot and it’s bulkier than I thought — in a good way. Excellent overall value.

Works great in my canoe. Slightly firm for sitting, but does the job and fits the seats nicely.

Solid, substantial throwable cushion
Really impressed with this throwable foam seat. The foam is dense and the cover fits tightly, giving a neat appearance. The grab straps feel secure and the whole cushion seems built to last. Images matched the product well. It’s hefty enough to be tossed to someone in the water and we replaced our old boat cushion with this one.
