Marine
BOSS MCKGB450B.6 Marine Gauge Stereo with 6.5-Inch Speakers (Pair)
Product description
This kit includes a compact marine head unit and a matched pair of 6.5-inch speakers designed for boat and off-road applications.
The head unit offers Bluetooth streaming and phone control, USB and auxiliary inputs, AM/FM reception plus NOAA weather band coverage. There is no CD/DVD mechanism in this model. On the back are preouts for front and rear channels as well as a subwoofer output to expand the system.
The receiver carries an IPX6 splash-resistant rating to withstand heavy spray. The two 6.5" speakers use weatherproofing techniques to resist moisture and UV exposure and employ dual-cone drivers for a broader frequency response.
Speaker specs include a nominal impedance of 4 ohms and a frequency range approximately from 80 Hz up to 20 kHz. The speakers measure roughly 7.52" x 7.52" x 3.11", with a mounting depth around 2.18" and a cutout hole near 5.75". The pair weighs in at about 2.76 lbs total.
The compact receiver measures about 4.45" x 4.41" x 4.41" and weighs close to 1.96 lbs, rated at 60 watts x 4 channels. The speakers’ dual-cone design aims to extend midrange and treble clarity rather than deliver heavy bass.
A three-year platinum online dealer warranty is offered when purchased through participating online retailers. Professional installation is recommended to ensure correct wiring, safe operation, and the best possible performance.
Pros
- Bluetooth streaming and phone control
- Weatherproof receiver and marine-rated speakers
- Multiple outputs for front/rear and subwoofer expansion
Cons
- Factory speakers lack deep low-end punch
- Some users report occasional Bluetooth or power interruptions
- Not powerful enough for towing skiers or surfers at high speeds
VerdictA solid, budget-conscious marine audio package that covers the essentials: wireless streaming, multiple inputs, and IP-rated protection. The included 6.5" speakers deliver clear mids and highs for cruising and fishing, but lack deep bass for watersports. Some buyers report occasional Bluetooth or power issues, so check wiring and firmware. Overall, a practical choice for a simple onboard audio upg

Good for cruising, not for towing
Solid aftermarket option for casual boating. Speakers are adequate for fishing and cruising but won’t deliver the punch needed for skiers or surfers.

Keeps powering off
I like the sound and controls, but it randomly shuts off. Checked wiring and constant power source, yet the problem persists. Frustrating.

Bluetooth disconnects repeatedly
Initial trips were fine, but on later outings the Bluetooth drops and requires a power cycle to reconnect despite being well within range and with steady battery voltage.

Fast install, excellent results
Mounted the head unit and speakers in under an hour. The manual was clear, Bluetooth pairs reliably, and the speakers sound very good for general listening from my center console.

Functional but weak on bass
Unit works well and the antenna reception is fine. Speakers lack bass, so I plan to add 6x9s to improve low end.
