Lee's Mini Rectangle Kritter Keeper with Lid — Small Ventilated Tote
Product description
This mini rectangular Kritter Keeper ships as a single clear plastic container with a snap-on ventilated lid that includes a hinged viewing and feeding flap. The unit is molded from sturdy, pet-safe plastic and comes in assorted lid colors.
The lid is designed to lock into place for security and has multiple ventilation slots to keep air moving. The hinged window lets you reach inside to feed or move small animals without fully removing the top.
Its compact footprint makes it suitable as a temporary aquarium, an insect storage container, a small terrarium, or a nursery for hatchlings. While built for convenience and portability, it’s intended for short-term housing and should be handled carefully to avoid cracks or damage.
Pros
- Ventilated, self-locking lid with feeding flap
- Compact and easy to carry for short-term use
- Made from pet-safe, durable plastic
Cons
- Small size not suitable for permanent housing
- Some lids can be stiff or hard to remove
- Occasional units arrive cracked or fragile
VerdictA handy, budget-friendly small container for temporary holding and transport of hatchlings, feeders, or acclimating fish. Its ventilated, locking lid and feeding flap are useful, but the mini size and occasional fragility mean it's best for short-term use rather than permanent homes.

Useful budget temporary housing
I used this to hold mice while cleaning their cage. It’s inexpensive and handy, but the lid is tough to remove for thorough cleaning. The small clear flap makes access easy, yet fully detaching the lid is tricky.

Only for short-term holding
Good for brief containment, but one of my animals managed to chew through the top. Not secure against persistent gnawers.

Missing lids on delivery
I ordered two and neither came with a lid. Very disappointing and not usable without tops.

Practical size but arrived broken
Good size for transporting small fish and generally functional, but the one I received arrived broken.

Daughter likes it
My daughter loves this container. It’s a bit stiff to open at first, but otherwise great for her tiny pets.

Perfect size for pet snails
I keep several pet snails and this size fits them nicely. Many terrariums are too large; this holds them just right and the snails seem comfortable.

Good for insects and teaching kids
After snapping one lid cold I cracked it, so I was careful with the rest. They’re great for housing cleaner insects and little critters for my dart frog setup. Kids enjoy watching the bugs and learning about decomposition.

Arrived damaged and flimsy
Bought this to transport a small reptile during a move, but it arrived cracked in several places and the lid wouldn’t stay on. The plastic felt cheap and broke too easily.

Compact feeder storage
Ideal for keeping insects to feed geckos. It’s small but does the job of holding bugs to be fed out and replaced. Not intended for permanent insect colonies.

As pictured, lid color varies
Matches the product photo, though my lid was a different color as noted. I use it to keep a single species of feeder insects (BSFL) and it works fine.

Tiny and handy for short transports
Picked this up to move hatchling turtles and it worked well. It’s very small — exactly what I needed for tiny animals and for temporarily housing a pleco and a zebra fish while I cleaned their tank. Not for larger or many animals, but perfect for my need.

Works for acclimating fish, watch for cracks
These cages served well for acclimating aquarium fish. One unit developed a crack fairly quickly which made removal messy. Useful, but build quality can be inconsistent.
