Eggluuz 6-Compartment Chicken Nesting Box — Hen Nest Unit
Product description
Designed to offer hens a clean, sheltered laying space, this six-compartment nesting box aims to improve comfort and encourage steady egg production. The unit gives birds individual spaces to settle and lay, while providing owners an organized system for collection.
Each nest is set on a slight backward slope so eggs roll forward into a covered tray, letting you retrieve fresh eggs without reaching into the nest itself. Three training eggs are included to help coax birds into using the nests during the transition period.
The housing uses galvanized steel for the side panels and roof for corrosion resistance and structural strength; these panels include ventilation holes to help air circulate and keep nesting areas dry and cooler in warm weather. The removable collection trays are molded plastic that won’t rust and are made to be rinsed clean.
All fasteners required for assembly — screws, nuts and clear instructions — are supplied. Key-shaped hanging slots are incorporated for easy wall- or coop-mounting and allow relatively simple disassembly when relocation is needed.
The tray bottoms and nesting surfaces include multiple small drainage perforations so water and debris don’t pool; when a tray is pulled out, it can be hosed off and left to dry quickly. The six-compartment layout fits hobby flocks and can be mounted at varying heights to match coop design.
Pros
- Inclined trays for hands-free egg collection
- Galvanized steel sides and roof resist corrosion
- Supplied hardware and easy mounting options
Cons
- Some users report difficulty removing the plastic trays
- Front doors/hinges can be fragile on long-term use
- Limited security options for exterior mounting
VerdictA practical, well-built multi-nest option for hobby and small commercial flocks. Assembly is straightforward, and the inclined trays make egg collection simple. Expect solid materials and easy wash-down maintenance, though some users report tray removal and long-term durability issues to monitor.

Hinge and security shortcomings
After about four months the green front doors came loose from the hinges, which was disappointing. When the unit is mounted outside there’s no easy way to lock or secure the doors against small predators such as snakes or rodents.

Solid build and the hens used them right away
We own three of these nesting units now. They go together with minimal fuss and our birds took to them immediately. With more than 70 hens, this is the first style they consistently use.

Good size and easy egg retrieval
Exactly the dimensions I needed for my coop. Construction is decent and removing eggs from the catch trays is simple.

Keeps eggs clean and intact
These solved our broken and soiled egg problems. Eggs roll into the protected trays and stay clean. They hose down easily; we used indoor-outdoor carpet in the nests and put a few fake eggs out to get the hens started.

Fails after longer use — caution advised
I bought three units in June 2025 and initially they worked fine. Now two of them have issues: one has a broken plastic step shelf the hens use to enter, which compromises the rolling function, and another shifted out from under the lip so the nest tilted and eggs were on the ground. I’m replacing them.

Super quick to put together, but trays are stubborn
I assembled this fast after watching a single online video—used a drill and a Phillips driver and had it done in about 15 minutes. The tutorial mistakenly mentioned needing a flat screwdriver, which wasn’t necessary. My one gripe: the plastic trays snap in very tightly and I can’t figure out how to remove them for a deep clean. The kit included three plastic dummy eggs that roll into the covered catch area to train the hens.

Really surprised by the quality for the cost
I expected a budget feel but this is well made. I previously used a higher-end, open-style nest that lets several hens share a compartment; this model has dividers so it won’t allow that same behavior. Still, the workmanship is impressive and the trays are easy to clean when needed.

Robust for the price — snug tray fit
Good value for what it is. I bought it to reduce broken eggs from a pushy Orpington and it helped. The instructions were a bit unclear about the horizontal support bars, and the plastic trays are very tight in their channels — I shaved off a few tiny plastic bits sliding them in. Overall the assembly was straightforward and the unit feels sturdy; if sitting on a shelf, add a 2x4 or similar support.
