Low-Profile Mic Boom Arm — Aokeo AK-58i Desk Mount
Product description
This low-profile microphone boom arm ships with the main articulated arm assembly, a heavy-duty C-clamp, and two thread adapters (3/8" to 1/4" and 3/8" to 5/8") so it works with a wide range of microphone threads and shockmounts. Microphone is not included.
Constructed from forged steel, the arm is designed for long-term durability and resists deformation. The arm supports a maximum payload of up to 2 kg and is compatible with most desktop microphones and common shockmounts on the market. The clamp secures to work surfaces up to 7 cm (70 mm) thick.
Both main arms rotate a full 360°, and the segment that holds the microphone can tilt through roughly 180° to achieve the desired vertical angle. The low-profile layout lowers the arm’s center of gravity, improving steadiness and reducing the chance of drift or shaking during recording, gaming, streaming, or podcasting.
A recessed channel along the underside hides the microphone cable and accepts the included clips to secure wiring out of sight. The arm’s slim silhouette runs beneath or across the bottom of a monitor, keeping the microphone out of the line of sight and reducing visual distraction.
Assembly is straightforward: mount the clamp to the desk edge, attach the arm sections (one or two segments can be removed to shorten reach), thread the adapter as needed for your microphone, and route the cable through the channel and clips. A one-year after-sales service is provided by the manufacturer for peace of mind.
Pros
- Very stable low-center design
- Built-in cable routing keeps desk tidy
- Strong forged-steel construction
Cons
- Heavier assembly needs a flush clamp surface
- Some flex from plastic bushings under load
- Final tilt uses click stops rather than infinite adjust
VerdictThe Aokeo AK-58i is a sturdy, low-profile boom arm that delivers professional stability and tidy cable management at a very good value. Its metal construction and low center of gravity minimize wobble during typing or movement, while the multiple joints and 360°/180° rotations provide flexible placement. A couple small plastic pieces introduce minor flex under heavy loads, and the clamp prefers a

Excellent arm for the money
A high-quality mic arm at a very reasonable cost. Well built and dependable.

Exactly what I wanted
This arm does what it claims: smooth movement, solid joints, and a compact footprint on my desk. Installation was quick and it fits nicely without taking up space. Highly recommended.

Low-slung and very stable
Exactly what I wanted: a low-profile design that stays rigid and doesn’t droop.

Easy to assemble and position, very versatile
Solid build, straightforward assembly, and the middle arm can be omitted for a shorter reach which is useful in tight setups. Depending on desk stiffness there can be a small amount of bounce, but the arm itself is adjustable and holds position well. The distal tilt uses click stops with a tightening knob rather than infinite micro-adjustment, but the increments are close enough for most uses.

Solid low-profile arm that cleared my desk and held heavy mics
I replaced a tall spring boom with this low-profile arm to keep my monitors unobstructed. After a couple weeks it’s performed better than expected. The all-metal construction feels premium and the lower center of gravity removes wobble when I type or move things. It tucks under my dual monitors and extends across the bottom without blocking my view. The three articulating segments give plenty of horizontal reach and allow precise placement.

Sturdy and adaptable — works with heavy broadcast mics
Very solid and easy to adjust. I removed one segment for a shorter setup and it functions perfectly. Handles my large broadcast mic without complaint. Cable routing through the arm is convenient and the clips hold things neatly.

Perfectly discreet and stable — game changer
I love how the low-profile design runs under my monitors so it doesn’t block my view while gaming or working. Metal construction feels premium and joints hold heavier mics without sagging. Cable management is handled cleanly and the clamp attached quickly and securely without damaging the desk. The supplied thread adapters add flexibility for different mic mounts.

Worth the upgrade
I first tried a cheaper alternative that sagged after a day. This unit has been rock solid for nearly two months. Highly recommended.

Very smooth motion but minor flex in joints
This is a huge step up from spring arms; movement is silky and cable management is well executed. I removed the third segment because there was noticeable flex with three joints. The plastic bushings and connector pieces are the weak link — if those were metal the flex would be reduced. The clamp is very solid and doesn’t budge. Overall I love it and it’s smooth to reposition; the vertical arm can be locked into place which helps.

Reliable, robust and high-quality
Build quality is noticeably superior to cheaper arms — minimal frills, lots of durability. It bends into nearly any position, was easy to install, and integrates well with my gaming rig. Spend a little more and avoid low-quality alternatives.

Does the job, though a bit wide
Good arm overall, but it’s a touch wider than I expected for my setup.

Feels beefy and well-made
This thing is built like a tank compared to flimsy alternatives. The hidden cable channel is a nice touch. Be mindful the assembly is heavy, so the clamp must sit flush against a broad desk edge or it can tip. Different clamp options would improve mounting flexibility, but otherwise it performs exactly as intended.
