Schiit Loki Mini+ 4-Band Tone Control Equalizer — Silver
Product description
The Loki Mini+ is a desktop four-band tone control designed to integrate with DACs, headphone amps and stereo systems. The package ships with the equalizer unit and a USA power adapter intended only for regions with 115VAC mains (United States, Canada, Mexico). The supplied adapter will not function in 230VAC countries; an appropriate transformer or local adapter is required for those regions.
Internally, Loki Mini+ relies on a single discrete current-feedback gain stage paired with passive LC filters on three bands and a gyrator circuit for the bass control. The controls cover roughly 20Hz, 400Hz, 2kHz and 8kHz. Adjustment ranges are ±12 dB at the extreme low and high bands (20Hz and 8kHz) and ±6 dB for the two mid bands (400Hz and 2kHz). A 100% passive bypass route is available so you can remove the EQ from the signal path for completely transparent playback.
The front panel uses sealed Alps potentiometers for smooth, precise control. The LC filtering topology keeps background hiss very low, though the inductors inside can, in some setups, pick up hum from nearby electronics. If you encounter ground hum, re-locate the unit away from mains transformers, routers or other noisy gear and test different source equipment. The chassis is compact and intended to sit on a shelf or desktop without occupying much space. The Loki Mini+ is designed and assembled in the USA.
Pros
- Musical four-band control with wide adjustment ranges
- 100% passive bypass for transparent straight-through signal
- Solid build with sealed Alps pots and low noise LC filters
Cons
- Includes a 115VAC-only power adapter — needs a transformer for 230VAC regions
- Inductors can pick up hum if placed near other electronics
- Runs warm and lacks a front-panel power switch or standby
VerdictA compact, well-built analog tone control that genuinely improves playback by letting you correct speaker or recording quirks without adding hiss or obvious coloration. It delivers useful control across 20Hz, 400Hz, 2kHz and 8kHz with robust construction and sealed Alps pots. Watch for potential hum from nearby electronics and remember the supplied power adapter is for 115VAC regions only.

Solid, unobtrusive device
Very effective and discreet — does exactly what it’s made to do. Remember it ships with a US mains adapter (AC) so European users will need a suitable transformer. Customer service was exemplary.

Honest company support
The unit does exactly what I needed to clean up a source before my amp. When a shipping mistake sent the wrong small preamp, customer service responded quickly, arranged the correct replacement fast and allowed me to keep the amp. Great support matched to solid engineering.

Perfect for casual tuning
Not an extreme audiophile, but I love being able to trim mids and add low end and crisp highs. I considered the higher-end model with more bands, but this unit gives enough control for my tastes and is easy to live with.

Well suited for fixing recordings and room issues
A handy tool to improve certain recordings, compensate for hearing loss or correct room acoustics. The discrete gain stage and passive filtering keep things musical and transparent — an essential addition to a tidy hi‑fi system.

Good product
Performs as expected and is easy to use.

Excellent sound, but it runs hot
This tamed overly warm TV speakers and delivered clean treble without hiss. However, the unit produces noticeable heat even when sources are off, and the power toggle is on the rear — inconvenient if you want to avoid continuous heat output.

Transforms headphones into something special
Long-time hifi listener here — this little unit made a huge difference on my headphone stack (Fostex TH900 Mk2, V‑Moda M‑100, 1More Triple Driver) paired to an iFi Black Label DAC/amp and streaming from Tidal. It tightens bass, adds weight without bloom, and opens the soundstage without obvious distortion or loss.

Good starter EQ for newcomers
Tested with a Modi/Magni stack and a TA‑20 tube amp, using HD6xx, HD600, Meze 109 Pro and U12T. The four knobs are intuitive for bass, midbass, midrange and treble, and the bypass is handy. Knob travel is limited, so extreme shelving curves aren’t possible, but it’s a useful, well-built addition for those new to EQ.

Helps compensate for hearing loss
I added this to my DAC and headphone amp to correct for age-related hearing changes. The controls let me lift or cut problem bands easily, and the bypass switch makes comparisons straightforward. Attractive, effective, and well made.

Saved me from buying new headphones
I bought the EQ after noticing a midrange dip on my Beyerdynamic DT770s. It corrected the recessed mids, giving more presence to vocals and snap to instruments. Now banjo, drums and strings sound clearer — fixed the issue without needing an upgraded headphone model.

Adds presence and energy to speakers
Used in a small stereo rig into bookshelf speakers and sub, it fattens lower mids and brings an engaging presence to instruments. On metal it fills out the guitar tone and gives a more holographic sense to the mix — makes vinyl playback feel lively again.
