Movo M1 USB Lavalier Microphone — Clip-On Lapel with 20 ft Cable
Product description
Plug-and-play USB connection: The Movo M1 connects directly to a USB port on a laptop, desktop or Mac and is recognized immediately by the operating system — no drivers, software, or external interfaces required.
Microphone type and pickup: This is an omnidirectional lavalier designed to capture sound evenly from all directions when clipped a few inches from the speaker’s mouth. That makes conversational audio and lectures come through clearer than typical built-in mics, though it will also pick up room noise or HVAC hums if present.
Cable and mounting: The mic is fitted with a lengthy 20-foot (about 6 meters) USB cable that gives you freedom to move around a room or present from across a desk while staying hands-free. The lapel clip is aluminum for a low-profile, durable mount that keeps the capsule in place without a stand or boom.
Accessories and build: Included in the package are the M1 lavalier microphone with its integrated 20 ft USB lead, an aluminum clip for securing the mic to clothing, and two foam windscreens to reduce breath and light wind noise. The mic is lightweight and intended for portable, everyday use rather than studio recording.
Typical uses: Ideal for video conferencing, online classes, webinars, streaming chat, voiceovers, tutorial narration, dictation, and similar scenarios where a simple, reliable USB lapel is preferred over a desk mic or headset.

Very high output compared to other lavaliers
I compared this to two other lav mics for podcasting on a MacBook Pro. The Movo produced a very strong signal that required me to cut input gain far lower than usual. The tone was slightly muffled compared with rivals. Other models I tested gave a more balanced, easier-to-control level without the same gain reduction.

Clear, loud audio for chat calls
Provides strong, clear volume for online chat and calls, plus the long cable adds flexibility.

Too much background noise on Apple devices
Tried this on a Mac, iPhone and iPad (with adapters) and noticed heavy ambient noise. It didn’t perform well on Apple devices for my setup, so I returned it and chose a different brand.

Adds useful audio to my outdoor IP camera
I used this with Foscam R4 cameras mounted on my porch. The mic plugs into my PC’s USB and Windows/BlueIris recognized it immediately as a DirectShow device. I assigned it to the cameras in BlueIris and now motion-triggered clips include audio. I clipped the mic near the camera and the long cable made installation easy. Thinking of buying a second unit for the back porch.

Handy for Skype or as a spare interview mic
Good quality and exactly as advertised — plug into USB and select it in Audacity or your call app with no drivers. Be aware it’s omnidirectional: it will pick up fans, refrigerators and room noise as well as voices, so quiet the environment before recording. Best suited for conference calls, voice memos and situations where room ambience isn’t a problem.

Works well with speech recognition software
Switched to this lavalier to avoid uncomfortable headsets when using Dragon NaturallySpeaking. The mic is light and comfortable and performs well for dictation. The long cable can be cumbersome if you forget you’re plugged in, so be mindful of that risk to avoid damage.

Straightforward plug-and-play for calls
Needed a quick mic for Skype and similar apps and this did the job in seconds. The system recognized it instantly and audio was clear. The clip is solid, the cable long enough for desk or presentation use, and it has worked reliably day to day for months. Also compatible with my external sound card.
