MAGID SparkGuard 9 oz Cotton Sateen Flame-Resistant Cape Sleeves (Pair)
Product description
Included: One pair of cape sleeves designed to protect the shoulders, upper chest, back of the neck and full length of each arm. Material: Flame-resistant 100% cotton sateen that is ASTM D6413 compliant and engineered to self-extinguish once the ignition source is removed. The fabric has a slight sheen and is finished in a distinctive green for quick visual identification.
Construction and hardware: Long-sleeve cape with a collared neckline to shield the neck area, front snaps for closure, adjustable snap cuffs to secure the wrist and allow wearing over gloves, and six bib snaps to attach securely to a matching bib for expanded torso coverage. The sleeves are labeled Large and use snap closures at the cuff.
Specifications: Material weight 9 oz., country of origin Philippines (subject to change). The product is intended to be worn by itself for arm and upper-body protection or combined with a bib and other flame-resistant garments. Because it’s cotton sateen, it provides lighter, more breathable flame resistance than heavier leather alternatives while still meeting flame-resistance standards.
Pros
- Lightweight and more breathable than leather
- Six bib snaps for secure attachment to a bib
- Adjustable wrist snaps allow use over gloves
Cons
- Thinner than leather—may not stop heavy molten spatter

VerdictThese cape sleeves deliver dependable, lightweight flame protection for the arms, upper chest and back of the neck. Size up when ordering
Runs a little small. I ordered XL but needed 2X.

Comfortable and handling light welding well
Used a couple weeks for light welding tasks and so far it’s holding up. Much cooler than my old leather cape during hot weather. Only a few tiny scorch marks, no burn-through. Even got funny compliments locally. Happy with the purchase if it keeps performing.

Good fit and decent value
Fits well and did the job for welding last night. Comfortable and reasonably priced. I’m adding male snaps to my apron for a tighter connection.

Durable over extended use
I’ve worn these for a year while doing GTAW, SMAW and TIG. They’re still in good shape with no burn-through or ripping. My denim shirts have seen worse. I’ll buy another pair when these finally wear out.

Medium-weight, like denim; good for spatter protection
I give it five stars because it does the job. I use an apron for the body; these sleeves cover my chest and arms while gloves protect my hands. The fabric behaves like heavy denim—spatter can burn through if left, but it shields skin from immediate burns. Not as protective as leather, but far more comfortable for hot climates.

A bit thin but effective
Only gave four stars because the material is on the thin side. It still prevented most spatter—only a few larger bits reached skin. Lightweight and comfortable. I also bought the matching apron that snaps on.
